Arley Garden Festival

27 & 28 June 2009

The 2009 Arley Garden Festival will again host an array of award winning gardens and nurseries from all over the country, who will pass on their expert knowledge to thousands of visitors who descend on Arley for this fabulous event once again.

This year’s festival on Saturday and Sunday, June 27 and 28, will feature a vast Floral Marquee with a magnificent display of award-winning flower and plant arrangements.

Following on the success of 2008 and the continued support from Manchester Airport, we will be hosting the Arley Schools’ Challenge, which will involve 10 local primary schools designing, and growing, their own gardens throughout the year to display at the Festival.

The gardens will be judged by head gardeners Paul Cook and Gordon Baillie, who will work closely with the children to help improve their knowledge and develop their interest in gardening.
Event Organiser Helen Glover said: “Arley Hall & Gardens possesses one of the finest gardens in Britain, so it is only right that we should host such a leading horticultural show."

The Festival also boasts specialist nurseries offering a wide selection of plants, from poppies to roses, and even a Gardeners’ Road Show where people will have their chance to pitch gardening questions to experts.
Estate owner Lord Ashbrook will also be offering tours of Arley’s famous gardens, while head gardener, Gordon Baillie, will be inviting visitors to join him at the double herbaceous border - considered by many to be the finest in the country.
Festival-goers will also be able to sample the Pimms & Champagne bar, enjoy a barbeque, and indulge with an ice-cream while taking in the sounds of a jazz band.

Plants can be dropped off at a specially prepared crèche and customers can take advantage of a dedicated buggy service take you and your purchases to your car.

Helen added: “The show is a great day out for all the family, whether you’re a fully fledged gardening enthusiast or just starting out.

“There will be a huge range of stalls and attractions on show and it’s an ideal opportunity for people to come and pick up some professional advice.”
