Which room in The Hall could we have our Civil Wedding Ceremony in?

The Drawing Room, Front Hall and Library are all licensed for civil wedding ceremonies.

How many guests can we invite for a Civil Wedding Ceremony?

We can accommodate civil wedding ceremonies for up to 100 guests.

Do we have to pay any extra for the Civil Wedding Ceremony?

The Civil Ceremony is included in the venue hire fee but you will need to pay the registrar directly for their services.

Can we get married in the gardens at Arley?

Yes the Alcove at the end of the Herbaceous Border and the Cruck Barn are licensed for weddings. Outdoor ceremonies require a back-up dry set up indoors, for this reason there is an additional £200 charge for outdoor ceremonies.

Do we have to book the registrar separately?

Yes, you will need to liaise with the registrar separately and ensure they are available to conduct a civil wedding ceremony on the date you’ve chosen. It is best to do this before you confirm your date here. You will need to pay the registrar in order for her to conduct the ceremony for you.

How long does a Civil Ceremony take?

A civil ceremony normally takes around 30 minutes, a little longer if you have readings included.

Can we get married in the Chapel at Arley?

The Chapel here at Arley is not consecrated for weddings. However, it is possible to hold a blessing in the Chapel subject to the consent of Lord & Lady Ashbrook.

We can also liaise with Rev Alec Brown of Great Budworth Church to organise the blessing and the organist, or if you prefer you can bring your own vicar on site.

What if we are already legally married?

You can have a humanist ceremony anywhere on the grounds and as there is no legal aspect you can make your own vows and have whoever you wish to be your celebrant.

What is the maximum number of guests we can have for the Wedding Breakfast?

We recommend a maximum capacity of 100 in The Gallery for a sit down meal on round tables. We can seat up to 160 if we use the Drawing Room as well but this is a separate room.

Can we drop anything off the day before our wedding?

Yes, you can drop table plans, name cards, favours etc. the day before your wedding and also your dress and bridesmaid’s dresses if you’d like to.

Can any of the fires in the Hall be lit?

Yes we can light the fire in the Library and Drawing Room.

Do you allow children in the Hall?

Yes, we welcome children to Arley.

Do you have any high chairs we can use?

Yes, we have high chairs which you can use.

Can we have lunch at Arley whilst we are getting ready?

Yes, our caterers can provide snacks or lunch for you while you are getting ready.

Will I need a microphone for the speeches? If so, do I have to provide my own?

You don’t need a microphone for speeches in The Gallery but if you prefer to have one then a microphone and PA system is provided free of charge.

Can you provide an easel to hold our table plan?

Yes, we can provide an easel, together with the table name and number holders.

What time do we have to finish the party?

Wedding parties must finish by midnight. However, it may be possible to extend this to 1.00am subject to prior agreement and a further charge of £150.

Can we have a long top table?

You can have a long top table in The Gallery but this reduces the capacity to 90.

When do I have to confirm final numbers?

We need an idea of your final numbers 6 weeks prior to your wedding date and actual final numbers need to be confirmed at least 10 working days before your wedding.

Do you have a cloakroom we can use?

We have a hanging rail which your guests can leave their coats on if required. This is normally situated just inside The General’s Room off the West Hall entrance.

There is also an ample cloakroom in Olympia.

Can you recommend any local suppliers?

When you make a booking we will give you a contact list which shows our local preferred suppliers which include photographers, florists, musicians, local hotels, DJs etc.
These suppliers are familiar with Arley.

Can my photographer come to Arley before the wedding to look round?

Yes, they just need to make an appointment in advance of their arrival.

Do you recommend having a break between the day and the evening?

We recommend that your day rolls into your evening without a big break.

Can we have fireworks?

Fireworks are not permitted at Arley as we are surrounded by working farms.

Can we launch Chinese lanterns?

Can we launch Chinese lanterns?
Unfortunately we don't allow Chinese lanterns to be launched as the debris impacts the working farms.

How many car park spaces are there?

There is ample, free, car parking at Arley.

What is the disabled access like?

There is disabled access to the ground floor of Arley Hall and Olympia.

Can we bring our own caterers in?

This is not something we offer because it is essential that we consistently offer the highest standard of catering. We therefore use a caterer who offers an exceptionally high level of service and competitive prices.

We do allow specialist caterers for events such as Kosha and Asian cuisine. There is a corkage charge of 25% of the total catering bill or £1,500 whichever is the greater.

Can we have a menu tasting session with the caterer?

Yes our caterers are happy to provide a tasting of your chosen menu.

A wonderful menu tasting is provided for all our bride and grooms at which you will be offered two dishes of your choice for each course from which to choose your final menu. This is included in our wedding packages.

Do you cater for special dietary requirements?

Yes our caterers can cater for any dietary requirements.

What age do you classify a child?

Anyone aged 12 and under is classified as a child.

Can we bring our own wine in?

Our caterers offer a corkage service if you’d prefer to bring your own. If there is something specific you would like to offer to your guests, which isn't on their wine list, they will be happy to try and source it on your behalf.

Can we taste the wine before we select it?

Yes you can purchase any of the wines from the wine list to taste before choosing.

Do you have a licensed bar?

Yes we do in Olympia. Our caterer can also arrange a temporary bar in Arley Hall.

Where does the bride normally get ready?

We have a bridal room which is at the disposal of the bridal party from 8.00am.

Can we have candles in Arley Hall?

Candles can be used on the tables as long as they are in a safe candle holder.

Can we have confetti?

We allow freeze dried flower petals to be thrown on the Terrace Lawn.

Can we have helium balloons?

We allow helium balloons in Olympia but they are not permitted in The Hall.

Can we have exploding balloons containing confetti?

Unfortunately the confetti makes the floor very slippery and stains the floor when wet so these are not allowed.

Can we have marquees on site?

There is a marquee site within the estate grounds but this is at some distance from the Hall and not in sight of it. The site does not give access to the Hall & Gardens.

We do have a bespoke clear roof marquee available to clients who wish to host events too large to be accommodated in the Hall or Olympia indoors. The clear marquee is fitted wall to wall within our stunning private courtyard of Olympia with direct access to the dancefloor and bar area inside. This provides sit down accommodation for up to 250 guests.

How long can you provisionally hold a date for us?

Once you’ve been for a show-round, we can provisionally hold a date for you for 14 days.

What deposit do I have to pay when I confirm a date?

Once you have confirmed your wedding date and checked the availability of the registrar if needed, we will complete you booking with a deposit of 50% of the agreed venue hire fee. The remaining 50% along with the catering fee will be invoiced approximately a month prior to the wedding.

Do I need insurance?

Wedding insurance is a requirement for all bookings at Arley. As your deposit is non refundable we require all families to insure against cancellation of the special day.
