Arley Hall, the Gardens and the Estate have been used as a location for a wide variety of filming. These include news stories on BBC Breakfast News, SKY, Netflix and Disney productions.
Productions filmed at Arley include the BBC’s Peaky Blinders, Antiques Road Show and Body Farm. Many others include Great British Garden Revival, Songs of Praise and Our Zoo. We have been the link setting for Inside Out North West several times. Filming also includes ITV’s Coronation Street, Cold Feet, The Voice, Tonight with Trevor McDonald and The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes. Cold Blood, The Forsyte Saga, Midwinter of the Spirit and Britannia High are others filmed at Arley. We were also the setting for Channel 4’s Hollyoaks and Disney UK for Evermoor. Additionally we have also been the venue for the Manchester United Football Clubs Christmas message and CBBC’s Mr Tumble. At the end of 2019 Cobra was filmed at Arley with Robert Carlyle, this was a Sky One programme. Brassic on Sky Max also filmed at Arley in 2021.
In early January 2022 Netflix screened Stay Close with the wedding scene of Megan and Dave filmed at Arley

The King of the Jungle in 2018 was king of Arley earlier this year filming this @Footasylum advert, look out for it over Christmas, doesn’t The Hall look amazing – until they knock it down!

Lord Ashbrook Supports Leonard Cheshire
In 2021 Lord & Lady Ashbrook were filmed in the gardens at Arley in support of Leonard Cheshire. Mark Lane, TV Gardener and Leonard Cheshire Ambassador spoke to Lord & Lady Ashbrook about the award-winning gardens. Lord Ashbrook reveals some interesting facts about parts of the garden that you just might not know about.
Leonard Cheshire residents at Hill House were able to see the interview and were then also able to take in 360’ panoramic views of the gardens using virtual reality headsets.
Thanks to a new Clevertouch interactive display unit and some virtual reality headsets, residents at the Leonard Cheshire care home in Sandbach were able to take in the sights of Arley Hall’s grounds and stunning gardens.
David Hursthouse, Assistive Technology Project Manager explained “Throughout the pandemic we’ve been busy introducing new devices and activities to tackle loneliness, keep our residents connected and offer access to brand new experiences, all within the four walls of Hill House, we were so thrilled to be able to able to bring this virtual tour to our residents, who have always loved their visits to Arley Hall. Assistive technology really offers a wide range of opportunities for disabled people and has been instrumental in improving the social wellbeing of our residents during a very testing time.”
Filming Exhibition in The Hall

Open from June 2019 it features behind the scenes images, stills from the programmes and anecdotes from the Arley staff who watched filming.

ITV’s The Voice filmed its trailer to promote the new series in our Library, Sir Tom Jones, Will i am, Jennifer Hudson and Olly Murs were all here!
Arley Hall has now appeared in three seasons of Peaky Blinders – the hit BBC1 drama that can also be seen on Netflix.
One of the show’s producers described Arley as ‘an iconic part of Peaky Blinders’ after it took on the role of Tommy Shelby’s home in series three.
It represented his step up in life as his fortunes changed. Several iconic scenes took place here including a showdown with Tommy’s nemesis Alfie Solomons (played by Tom Hardy) and the season climax that saw members of the Shelby family arrested.
In the latest series several scenes were shot with newcomer Sam Claflin, who plays Oswald Mosley, and a huge set piece involving a ballet was staged in the Furlong Walk.
All the actors who played family members in the series have filmed here including Helen McCrory, Finn Cole and Paul Anderson.
Hollywood actors Adrien Brody and Aiden Gillen also filmed a dramatic ambush scene on the park for series four.
The actor we have seen the most of at Arley is Cillian Murphy who spent weeks filming scenes here over the past four years.

Coronation Street has filmed several times at Arley and used our chapel for both weddings and Deirdre Barlow’s funeral.
ITV Midwinter of the Spirit
A new three-part supernatural thriller. Priest and trainee exorcist Merrily Watkins is asked by the police for her help in solving a baffling and gruesome murder. The Old Parsonage and The Hall were used in the filming.
Obsessive Compulsive Cleaners – Country House Rescue
Channel 4 series in which Arley was used as the Country house to aspire to in this series about cleaning up run down country houses.
Close To The Enemy
Filming took place at Arley for a six-part BBC2 Stephen Poliakoff drama.
BBC TV Series Filmed at Arley
Arley Hall appeared in the well received BBC drama about the founder of Chester Zoo.
Disney Channel – Evermoor
Evermoor is about an American teen who is uprooted from her city home in the US for a new start in England. It was produced by Liverpool-based Lime Pictures, the company behind Hollyoaks and The Only Way is Essex. It was the first UK production to be shown on the Disney Channel.
Chris did some filming in the Herbaceous Border for the BBC2 series Great British Garden Revivals.

Arley also offers a setting for photoshoots which have included Mamas & Papas, Citroen, BMW, Lexus and Matalan.
